Our Story

The Kentucky Psychological Foundation (KPF) began in 1999 with one simple but strong goal: to use psychology to help people all over Kentucky and make their lives better through education.

In 2005, we started Heads Up Kentucky!, a public education program that showed how psychology connects to everyday health and wellness in fun and creative ways. This program helped us build strong connections in the community and focus on real, positive change through education.

After Heads Up Kentucky! was a success, KPF started to grow. In the following years, we held yearly psychology student conferences, started mentorship programs, and created a Kindergarten Readiness magazine that was shared with thousands of young children in Kentucky.

Then in 2020, everything changed. The COVID-19 pandemic and the renewed focus on social justice showed just how important mental health education really is. KPF didn’t just watch – we got to work. Thanks to funding we received during the pandemic, we were able to reach more people, strengthen our team, and create new programs to support people during these uncertain times.

Where We're Headed

Today, we are working hard to keep growing. We offer free public education programs that change and improve as the needs of our communities change. Our work isn’t just about giving information; it’s about helping people transform their lives. We want every Kentuckian to feel confident in understanding, protecting, and improving their mental health.

We are always looking to partner with individuals and organizations who share our mission of making trusted mental health information available to everyone in Kentucky.

By working together, we can reach more people and help build healthier, stronger communities.
