When thinking about psychotherapy, the cost is often an important consideration. It is important to understand your behavioral health benefits. Use your insurer's website or call the number on your insurance card to ask the following questions

There are more options than just 1:1 counseling and a whole alphabet soup of approaches. It's important to understand what you're looking for

Most of this resource focuses on outpatient care but behavioral treatment is a continuum of intensity that should be matched to your needs.

When looking for a mental health provider, it is important you see a licensed professional. A license means the provider has both legal and ethical responsibilities to patients. It also means there is a process for filing a complaint, if necessary

Once you have contacted your insurance company and scheduled your first session with a behavioral health provider, here are some questions you may consider asking at your first session
